The BlogRush Slap!

Are you or have you been using BlogRush, the new viral widget developed by John Reese?

Well, this morning I received an email from him congratulating me because my blog has passed their strict Quality Guidelines and criteria …

"We believe you have a high-quality blog and we are happy
you're a member of our network!"

Apparently 10,000+ Blogs were removed from BlogRush.  10,000+ .  The email goes on to say …

"We've just completed a massive SWEEP of our entire network.  We've removed over *10,000* blogs (Yes, ten thousand) that did not meet our new Quality Guidelines.

We have done a huge "quality control audit" of our network and have reviewed all the blogs one-at-a-time.  We will continue to review each NEW blog that is ever submitted to our network.

You will notice the HUGE DIFFERENCE in the quality of blogs that now appear in your widget.  This major *sweep* of our network will also increase the click-rates across the entire network and you will start to receive more traffic."

My immediate thought when I read this email was, "Wow, a BlogRush Slap!"

Isn't the reason John Reese has felt to remove all of these blogs from his BlogRush system, the very same reason many people experienced the Goole slap last year when many Pay Per Click accounts were deleted …  You abide by their rules or else!

If you run an Internet business whether it's via a blog, automated website or static website, the message really is that if you think you can post a bunch of "crappy" articles and try to cheat the system, you will eventually get "slapped" one way or another.

For many people, BlogRush has been the best thing since sliced bread in terms of making their blog viral, but there always has to be one … or many … who just try to cheat the system.

I hope you were one of the many who received this pleasant email from John Reese this morning but if you weren't I'm sure you're doing whatever you can to make your blog appealing to your readers - and not just trying to get AdSense clicks - the search engines as well as any other systems that you might rely on to promote your online business on your behalf.

Don't be like the Hare, be like the Tortoise if you must - it's better to start slow and be consistent rather than rush off and suddenly become shoddy.  The only person stand to lose long-term is you.

All the best,

I got the same email from BlogRush. At the moment, for me, BlogRush is still on parole. :) So far, it has been ok.
I'm still giving BlogRush time - but I may give it "the slap" eventually.

Hi there James,

You've probably noticed that this is the first post I've done on BlogRush because I too wasn't going to get too excited until I'd tried and tested it.

I just wanted to start the talk of "The BlogRush Slap" before anyone else did and of course to highlight that we must "get our blogs in order."

I love your sense of humor James - perhaps you'll send an email to John when you're ready to give BlogRush the "slap!" :-)

I'm amazed how a "widget" has gotten so much attention. I helped give it some as well, but the people complaining that they got booted - it blows my mind.

There are hundreds of widgets. Many which tried to do some sort of traffic sharing. They come and go without a fuss and no one in the real blogging world complains when a widget is released that doesn't make their personal cut.

Mainly because they are free and we bloggers have to test a LOT of widgets in our time before one sticks.

The complainers are showing how out of touch they are with the blogging world IMO. If I complained about every FireFox add on and wordpress widget that failed me or didn't meet my needs I'd never have time to do anything else.

I personally like the thing and know John will make it better, but if it doesn't pull through for some reason I will simply take it down and move on.

Crazy how people are going off on Reese in the forums over all this.

Hi there Jack,

I couldn't agree with your comments more!

I haven't really had time to get behind the scenes and find out whether BlogRush is actually working for me, but like you, I'm more than happy to take it down if it doesn't perform.

For the bloggers out there who have had their account deactivated, I'm just wondering how many of their blogs were long-term performers. Granted some of the blogs did not qualify because they were new, not enough posts or infrequent posting and this can easily be sorted. But my question is whether John's decision to delete many of the BlogRush accounts may just highlight the number of poor quality blogs in the blogosphere.

They are going off at John because blogrush didn't work out as well as it sounded.
