“What’s Your Twitter ‘Saying’ Man!”

TwitterI admit, I’m a late adopter to Twitter but I’ve noticed something I want to share with you.

I don’t tweet nearly as much as I ought to, but so far I’ve connected with some great people, though not many.  Some of my Twitter contacts and I have offline chats too and so I’m really seeing the value of “twittering on” sometimes.

I’m not in the habit of connecting with everyone who tweets me though and here’s why … visit the profile of the next person who tweets you and check out the number of people they’re following compared to the number of people following them.  If there is a serious disproportion of those they’re following compared to the number of people following them, you won’t have to look far to see why there is a discrepancy …

All or most of their tweets are ads.  Even worse, they often sound like this …

“New Promotion and Offers.”

And then check out their updates … they often have few of these too - and most or all relate to their promotions.

I’m being honest when I say I’m still wearing my learner plates when it comes to Twitter, but one of the best ways to learn is just by following people who have been doing it for a long time and have some interesting tweets.

She doesn’t know it but one of my fans on Twitter is a lady called Mari Smith, a Relationship Specialist and FaceBook coach.  If you want to know how to tweet, check her out.  See what she writes, how she writes it.  You feel as though you’re on vacation with her when she’s keeping you updated about her trips.  If she’s watching a movie, you’re there with her.

Mari doesn’t even know me by the way so this isn’t a plug for her … I just respect her a great deal and think that newbies to Twitter could follow her lead.

So please, if you’re one of those creating crappy tweets and then inviting me to follow you, save your click.

And this goes for people who use FastPitch networking, FaceBook etc.  If you’re going to connect, don’t ask me to marry you before you even ask me out for a date (got this one from Alex Mandossian).  I’m a woman and I need romancing first!!  My husband does know I’m writing this by the way! :-)
