So, You Think You Can Compete With The Laws Of The Universe?

I’ve just received another of the dozen or so calls we get per week, trying to deviously get information from us so that they can sell us a service.  Now, I don’t use the word “deviously” lightly or even politely and I feel sorry for these people who work in these places but let me be brutally honest, these companies attract dishonest people!

In order to succeed in any environment, you have to think a particular way. And as a top executive from a legendary retail company once stated,

“You can’t send a duck to eagle school”

He went on to explain, “you can’t teach someone to smile, you can’t teach someone to want to serve, you can’t teach personality.  What we do, however, is hire people who have those qualities and we can teach them about our products and teach them our culture.”

The person who called me  earlier started “ma’am, I understand you or someone in your family had a car accident some years ago …” I didn’t even let him finish since I knew where the conversation going. I just laughed and said you have the wrong telephone number.

What this person was after was information to find out if I was eligible to claim for personal injury and then they get a commission if I proceeded to win my case.

I really don’t have a problem with people being made aware to claim for things they are entitled to, but,

“when you start violating the natural laws of the universe (blatant lying is one of them), I don’t care what your name is, what your status is and where you were born, it will come back at you and bite your butt!”

Just consider Barclays, they thought they had it sorted.

Authenticity, Integrity and Relationships Undergird Business Longevity 

At a time in our history when people are fearful because of the economy, it’s not the time (nor has it ever been that way) to start doing business deviously. By being authentic, building great relationships and having integrity undergirds long-term business success.

And I dare you to stand out and decide to do business ethically and with integrity.

It might look to everyone else that you’re lagging behind but we live in a spiritual world and what you sow is also what you will reap. Whether you believe my statement or not, you will produce after your kind and you only need look at history to know this to be true … you cannot compete with the laws of the universe.
