MemberOne Membership Site Software Rocks

If you’re think of or have been thinking about adding a membership site to your product offerings, this membership site software is for you …
For about a year now I decided that the best product for me to offer on the Internet would be a membership website, featuring video capture training, articles and teleseminars all about how to blog.
Well, in just a few short days, I will be launching my very first membership website, The Blog Net Reporter. But this blog post isn’t about my new membership site, but to walk you through my journey of finding the right software and then landing on the perfect solution … MemberOne.
Up until being introduced to MemberOne, by far the best membership site I’d ever come across was Jim Edwards "The Net Reporter" which uses the aMember script combined with the Semiologic WordPress theme for the content. I don’t know about you, but I hate going into a membership site and feeling as though I’m alone … "no one is home." And even though Jim Edwards DIDN’T have a members forum, there was so much buzz around the site and it really felt like an exciting place to be. And by the way … the domain names for my site and Jim’s is only similar because TheBlogReporter.com wasn’t available.
Anyway, I digress … What I didn’t want though was all the headache of integrating 1 Shopping Cart, Ask Database, Tell A Friend script, etc, etc and the only other site that boasted "some" of these features cost $4,500 (MemberGate) until it’s rival (MemberSmart Pro) was launched recently at about $2,500. The problem was though that neither of these scripts did everything I wanted them to and so I settled for aMember and Semiologic since not only do I build sites with Semiologic and therefore comforable with it, I had some degree of flexibility, despite the fact that I would have to combine a number of different pieces of software to get the maximum benefit out of my membership site.
Well, for those of you who have been reading my posts and are on my subscriber list, you’ll know that The Blog Net Reporter is due to launch this Thursday, October 18. I had aMember set up (and even paid someone $75 to finish setting up the script for me because there was one aspect I wasn’t sure about), I’d customized Semiologic and was ready to upload my content when I received an email that just changed everything …
The first few emails I received, I ignored them because they referred to Britney Spears and because I knew she’d been in the news recently, I just thought it was another ploy to get more money out of my pocket. Well, in essence it was but I know the money won’t stay out of my pocket for long!
The next email I received about Britney Spears was from Shawn Casey and this one got my attention. First off because I don’t get an email from Shawn every other day promoting the next best thing on the Net (perhaps a lesson for those of you affiliate marketers who practice this). The sales letter was promoting Membership Superstars, a low cost solution for learning about setting up profitable membership sites. And bearing in mind, I was all set to upload my content …
Want To Know Why I Abandoned My Project And Jumped onto Membership Superstars?
It wasn’t the price because I’d decided I had to have this program before I reached the bottom of the sales letter … the first reason was because I have purchased the $97 ebook that promised to tell me everything about starting up a profitable membership website but in fact told me very little. In fact, as far as I could see, it was a badly written resell rights eBook (I know because I have it) that the author added his own bits to. Yes, it was that badly written!
I’ve read the forums and the truth is, recently there have been so many rubbishy membership websites being launched at $20 and less per month and I didn’t feel that mine fell into this "rubbish" category. This isn’t me boasting now, but I’m not giving away my hard work for $19.99 per month which is what I’ve been reading … "anyone can do it … just charge $20, and believe me, there are suckers out there that will buy it."
There are obvious exceptions such as Jimmy D Brown’s List And Profit membership website (which just delivers outstanding value) but in general, what I read into many of these sales letters and products on creating membership sites was find something people are searching for on the Internet and then create a membership site around it.
I personally don’t subscribe to this because if you’re going to create something that will last, you must have some FIRE IN YOUR BELLY about the product or topic! In other words, it has to be something you’re passionate about. And believe me, I abandoned my MBA dissertation part way through because the topic I’d chosen didn’t give me that fire in my belly even though I was "interested." And man, no matter how much I tried to brighten the way, it felt so dark. So my advice to you if that’s how you feel about the topic you’ve chosen to build your business on, I don’t care how much money is riding on it …
Light Will Always Outshine Darkness!
In other words, if you don’t have peace about it, don’t do it!!
Anyway, my second reason for not hesitating was knowing that Shawn Casey was partnering (with Marc Goldman) on this program and I knew this was a guy who has had a lot of big successes with membership websites. I also know how much he charges for his coaching programs (around the $10,000) so when I eventually did see the price, this to me was a no brainer.
But by far the biggest deciding factor was the integrated membership software that you get to try out for 30 days when you join Membership Superstars …
Whilst aMember and Semiologic are great programs and I endorse them 100%, using a mainly female chore to illustrate … "why would I fill up the kitchen sink, put in the washing up liquid and wash each item of crockery separately and then dry them (separately) when I have a dishwasher that will do them all in one go?
The answer is you wouldn’t do it because it takes more time and in the long-run, likely to cost you more money.
But yet, we do this with our business all the time. And granted, some times it’s necessary when there just isn’t another way, but I want to spend more time with my family and so I want quick and easy integrated business solutions that do what it says on the packet - in this case, in the sales letter. And what lit my fire when I read this sales letter was …
A complete, paint-by-numbers, learn-by-doing system that not only teaches you
what to do to run a highly profitable membership site but EXACTLY how to do it. "
This was all I needed!
But then there was more …
"You Get Everything You Will Ever Need to Run a Successful Membership Site
Now this wasn’t just what I needed, it was what I wanted and they had my money within minutes.
I’ve watched the outstanding video tutorails on building a successful membership site and I’ve started building The Blog Net Reporter using MemberOne and so far, I haven’t had to consider using a third party add on. The shopping cart is nothing you’ve ever seen - really - and it has an integrated affiliate program, tell a friend script, forum software, autoresponders, survey forms, helpdesk integration and … you know what, you need to go check this out for yourself! On top of all of this, the customer service is A1 and so far, I’m happy.
In the next few days, I’ll do a quick review of the sofware so stay tuned … but my advice is that if you’re thinking of building a membership site, don’t wait for my review, you can sample the software and get coaching for a very low cost. The coaching program begins on October 18 so don’t miss out!

Thanks for the write up and information, i’ve been looking to put a free membership section on my site and this software looks perfect for a trial.
If you use them Chloe, I would ask them about their setup service. It really will save you a lot of time and frustration.
Best,
Trish
