I Gotta Tell You …

The Internet Success Bootcamp in London UK this last weekend was a hoot!!

And, if you want to know the trends in Internet Marketing and what’s working and what isn’t I would encourage you to stay tuned to this blog post to the very end.  I’ll make it short and sweet but don’t miss out because the trend is so simple, most people will want to kick themselves when they read it!

First of all, the line-up speakers were just amazing and whilst I won’t mention every speaker who attended over the three days, some really stood out including:

• Marlon Sanders who spoke about the 6 steps in The Amazing Formula (and it is amazing)
• Bruce Safran from My Affiliate Store speaking about the 5 things you need to succeed and the 3 things you need to make money
• Anik Singal on Affiliate Marketing.  This guy had such an impact on me personally with his easy steps system to making money from affiliate commissions
• The Rubik’s Cube Guy - Greg Cesar with his amazing Adwords Formula
• David Cavanagh with his Turnkey Business In A Box - a system to get you on the Net quickly and easily

I could go on with Armand Morin and Mike Filsaime, both of whom created such a buzz with the simplicity of their system for making money and, their story of how they went from zero to hero.

Now, you may have noticed that I’ve not gone into any depth about what the speakers focused on and there is one reason for doing this … it’s not so much "what" they discussed, but "how" they are getting results in their day-to-day businesses.  I don’t know if you noticed a pattern in what each speaker focused on above …

THEY ALL HAD A FORMULA!

Marlon Sanders actually said that "a system was a repeatable formula" and hence the reason he created The Amazing Formula.  It was also intersting that some of the speakers testified to this being their first step-by-step guide that has eventually made them millionaires.  Greg Cesar used the most powerful demonstration I had ever seen using the Rubik’s Cube to get his point across … He closed his eyes, messed up the Cube and then with his eyes still closed, matched up all of the colors again.  And what did he say … "it’s just a formula and once you know the formula, you take control of your marketing."

Isn’t that so amazing!  And all he says is … "it’s a formula," admittedly, one that took him 20 years to master! 

Having a repeatable formula was one of the important factors I wanted to highlight, but the other is this and, I have to tell you, this came as a bit of a surprise to me, but I experienced it with my own ears from delegates and not merely through the speakers …

And They Are Willing To Pay For It!

Are home study courses dead?  I have no idea, but I do know that when I decided to do my MBA in 1996, I was offered the opportunity of studying via Open University for less than a third of the price I paid to attend University on a part-time basis. 

My attitude was, and still is, home study courses are for people with discipline!  So are you saying you have no discipline Trish?  Yeh!  For some things I have, but to study at home with no assistance, I just lose focus and move from one thing to another.  So yes, this is Trish being honest with you here and, if you came to my office, you’d see the amount of home study courses I have gathering dust.

So, I’m going to say it again … Home Study Courses are for people with discipline and if you fail to be honest with yourself about how disciplined you are about studying solo, you’ll end up broke like so many newbies on the Internet who think that every course that’s launched must have the secret formula to making them rich.  And this was me until Alex Mandossian started mentoring me. 

I personally spoke to a number of people at the seminar who had been attending for 4 years plus.  They had been given resell rights products galore and, this is one of the reasons they attend, and for all the products and all the seminar attendance, they didn’t even have a website!  Yes, it’s true you don’t need a website to do business online, but I’m going to suggest to you that YOU DO if you want to earn more than pocket money!!  I don’t care whether Frank Kern can show you how to make money without a website … he has a course showing you how to do it doesn’t he?  And, he has a website selling you the product that shows you how to do what he does doesn’t he?  Okay, I think I’ve made my point and I can only say all of this because I was once one of those seminar attendees - no website, no product, no formula, no system.  Now I can implement what I learn at these seminars in days, rather than waiting years and then forgetting what I’d been taught.   

So, here’s the last thing I want to highlight …

THERE AINT NO SECRET FORMULA!

Notice that all of the speakers I mentioned above are ALL successful but not one of them used THE formula.  Instead, they used A formula (one that’s proven is naturally best) and they worked THAT formula until they had a) mastered it b) they found new and better ways for doing what they did and, c) created their own formula, which they can now sell and make a fortune from their sales.

David Cavanagh said that in his $10,000 per year coaching program, it’s the ones who follow the system that become successful.  In MLM, you’ll hear them say, "follow the system and you will be successful."  In sales, it’s "follow the system and you’ll be successful."  In business ….  I think you get my point. :-)  So my advice is find a workable system and stick to it and, if you’re like me and you can’t work the system on your own, find a mentor to assist you through the formula.

I had to learn this the hard way, and having pulled out of the coaching space as it were, I’ve now put myself back into it again because of the need.  I am not the cheapest blog builder around, but what I focus on is the "how to" once the blog is built and, after this last weekend, I’ve realized that I need to put even more emphasis on the "how to" so instead of giving one hour of telecoaching, I’ll now be adding another hour because most of my clients don’t care how the blog gets built, they just want to know how to make it sell their products and services.  In other words, they just want me to give them the formula.

If on the other hand, you want a business and you want to use a blog as part of that business building forumla, then I know of no one (not that there isn’t but, I know of no one) who offers the blog development services that I do.  The emphasis is on how to use your blog to sell your products and services and it’s not about just having a blog.  Interested, read more about it here.

If you’ve been online for more than 6 months and you haven’t made your first dollar, it’s time to review your system.  Decide which formula might be best for you and then hire a mentor to hold your hand through each stage of the formula.
