Getting Indexed By Google

Getting indexed by Google or any of the search engines is crucial for keeping you in the Internet Marketing game.
There is a lot of talk online about the recent Google shakeup and the fact that Google re ranked all sites in the last week and some siteowners discovered that their page rank had actually been reduced - in some cases by 2 points.
Now, the intention of this blog posts isn’t to talk about the Google shakeup because whilst there is speculation as to the reasons why, no one knows for sure. And whilst Page Rank isn’t the most important element of making money online, one thing is for certain …
If your site isn’t getting indexed by Google or
the other search engines you are not in the game
Now, indexing does not mean giving your blog a page rank or a rating, but it does list you in the organic searches and this is important if you want to be found by people other than those you notify that you exist as well as enabling you to benefit from getting free traffic.
Some people have had their blogs up for what seems like forever and yet if you type in their domain name in Google, Yahoo, MSN or Alta Vista, nothing comes up in the search engines.
If it’s possible to get a brand new site indexed within 36 hours - as was the case with my client who owns OrangeLily.net - then a site that has been live for weeks should have been indexed by the search engines. But how?
Here are some useful tips that ought to get the search engine spiders visiting and indexing your site on a more regular basis:
- Created 5 to10 articles and post three or four of them when your blog goes live and then add at least one post every week after this
- Create yourself a Google Sitemap - do a Google search to find out how
- Use the keyword phrases in both your blog title and tagline that reflects the terms people would use if they were searching for information that may be found in your blog. So rather than use yourdomain.com in the title of your blog, use a keyword phrase and the same applies to the tagline. If you take Brad Fallon for example, just one of the best SEO experts on the web, the title of his blog is “SEO Expert, Brad Fallon” and not what most people would expect … BradFallon.com
- In each post that you make, again you should be using keywords and keyword phrases that people would search for on the Internet.
Just doing those 4 things above will get you in the game and then the more you add fresh unique content to your blog, the more likely Google and the other search engines will visit your site to index your posts and pages.

The BlogRush Slap!
October 22, 2007 by Trish Jones

Are you or have you been using BlogRush, the new viral widget developed by John Reese?
Well, this morning I received an email from him congratulating me because my blog has passed their strict Quality Guidelines and criteria …
"We believe you have a high-quality blog and we are happy
you’re a member of our network!"
Apparently 10,000+ Blogs were removed from BlogRush. 10,000+ . The email goes on to say …
"We’ve just completed a massive SWEEP of our entire network. We’ve removed over *10,000* blogs (Yes, ten thousand) that did not meet our new Quality Guidelines.
We have done a huge "quality control audit" of our network and have reviewed all the blogs one-at-a-time. We will continue to review each NEW blog that is ever submitted to our network.
You will notice the HUGE DIFFERENCE in the quality of blogs that now appear in your widget. This major *sweep* of our network will also increase the click-rates across the entire network and you will start to receive more traffic."
My immediate thought when I read this email was, "Wow, a BlogRush Slap!"
Isn’t the reason John Reese has felt to remove all of these blogs from his BlogRush system, the very same reason many people experienced the Goole slap last year when many Pay Per Click accounts were deleted … You abide by their rules or else!
If you run an Internet business whether it’s via a blog, automated website or static website, the message really is that if you think you can post a bunch of "crappy" articles and try to cheat the system, you will eventually get "slapped" one way or another.
For many people, BlogRush has been the best thing since sliced bread in terms of making their blog viral, but there always has to be one … or many … who just try to cheat the system.
I hope you were one of the many who received this pleasant email from John Reese this morning but if you weren’t I’m sure you’re doing whatever you can to make your blog appealing to your readers - and not just trying to get AdSense clicks - the search engines as well as any other systems that you might rely on to promote your online business on your behalf.
Don’t be like the Hare, be like the Tortoise if you must - it’s better to start slow and be consistent rather than rush off and suddenly become shoddy. The only person stand to lose long-term is you.
All the best,

You Want The Fish Or You Want The Rod?
October 20, 2007 by Trish Jones

Just humour me for a minute here will you …
It’s 1:20am here in England, but I just had to get this off my chest before I went to bed …
If you’re starving hungry and I’m holding a fish in one hand and a rod in the other, and then I tell you have a choice, take the fish, bake it and eat it, or take the rod and go catch the fish before you can bake and eat it, which one would you take?
Well, I know without a doubt, I’d take the fish and run!! In my view, now is not the time to learn to fish! Yes I must learn but not at a time when my knees are weak and my stomach is twisted from hunger.
And you know what I percieve to be the biggest reason for failure on the Internet today …
Too Much Choice!
At the seminars, in the forums … whenever you speak to newbies trying to make a living in online and you ask them to tell you what one thing is stopping them succeeding, it’s not a lack of motivation, it’s not their willingness to take action (not directly anyway), it’s not their unwillingness to learn … By far the biggest reasons I hear as to why those new to Internet Marketing just don’t succeed online, its because …
They Have Too Much Information!
They are suffereing from information overload and the reason they just keep purchasing every course that presents an enticing description in their in box, it’s because they think, some how this will be the magic pill. This course will tell them exactly what to do and then they can find success on the Internet at long last.
I’m a firm believer in the philosophy that "if you give a man a fish you feed him for a day, teach an man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime," but I’ve added my own philosophy to this … "just give me some fish whilst I’m learning to fish!"
My experience as a mentor over the past few years is that like the starving person, people who lack knowledge in a particular area, just want to be given the fish … at least whilst they’re learning to fish. And if you’re more experienced than they are, aren’t you going to suggest where to fish, the right rod to use, what kind of bait to use depending on the type of fish they want to catch … etc.
Well I believe that as mentors, we need to stop trying to give our clients too many choices and just tell them exactly what they need and then guide them through the process. If you don’t do this, the moment your back is turned, they’ll be trying to find some other solution to fill the learning gap that they "perceive" is there.
I’m speaking from my own personal experience now and I remember one of my mentors saying to me one day "Trish, just allow me to speak into your life and give you some direction" and knowing Marc Goldman’s and Shawn Casey’s successes with building profitable membership websites, when I read their Membership Superstars sales letter, I heard this same "sweet" music I’d hard from my mentor.
Marc and Shawn were telling me that they knew EXACLTY which tools I needed to build my membership site and they would coach me through the process and provide me with excellent support if I needed it. Now, that is what I call a big fish! And what have I done? I’m just following their "paint-by-numbers, learn-by-doing system" and perhaps one day when I’ve created a few successful membership sites, I may be able to tweak the process here and there and who knows, I may even find a better solution.
Right now though, there is no better solution - I’ve been looking for one for many months and haven’t found it up until now. So the only fishing I have to do is for the content for my site. I don’t need to decide which software is best, upload 5 different scripts and then tweak them to make them work seamlessly together …
I Just Gotta Eat The Fish!
This was music to my ears because this guy is a huge success in his own right on the Internet The last ebook I purchased on running a successful membership site gave me so many options that once I’d done the book I was more confused than when I began.
With MemberOne, I get 30 days free trial of their software, I get training videos, I get coaching and, I know how much it will cost me each month. No starting and then realising I need other software to really make the system flexible and functional so now, I can get on with marketing my business which is where the real money is to be made.
And my advice to you? If you’re new to the Internet … Go find someone who will give you the fish and enjoy it whilst you learn to catch your own!
To your online success,

A BIG Rant From Marlon Sanders …
October 13, 2007 by Trish Jones
And, I have to say it’s a justified rant …
I kinda understand how Marlon is feeling right now since it often seems that you spend all the money and time attending the seminars, buying the courses, reading the books, listening to the audios and then someone wants to come pick your brains, have you do some of the work for them in the hope that they’ll strike it lucky.
Well I agree with Marlon that if you’re marketing on the net, you need to have business basics. You have to know how this business works because if you don’t no amount of blogs you put up, no amount of mini websites you build will give you the desired income because you need to know how to market them.
When I left my job to have my baby in 2001, I had just completed my MBA and although I’m grateful for the process, my little girl was only months old and I was attending classes on marketing and business practice building (I’d decided to become a coach at the time) because I realised my MBA just wasn’t practical enough. And, I’m going to give you Marlon’s rant in a moment, but I’m also going to say this …
If you’ve been trying to build a business online for a year or more and you haven’t attended a live event, regular teleseminars or read marketing books by people like Marlon Sanders, Jay Abraham etc, then I’m going to suggest to you that you’re not serious about building your business.
And I know I aint Marlon Sanders, I haven’t built my name yet, but I too get really ticked off when people just don’t want to do their homework. And then they want to pick my brains for free! One day, I’ll reveal the real story of what it took and how much it cost me as well as what it almost cost me just to get to where I am today. Nothing was going to make me give up on my dream and nothing will.
So what about you? What are you going to do after you’ve been spoon-fed and haven’t learnt a thing about marketing? Moan that it was the mentors fault?
Here’s what Marlon Sanders has to say about people who don’t do their homework … Don’t shy away from reading it now, it could be worth a million dollars to you.
*************************************
Hey Gang,
WARNING! This issue is over the top, out of control, brutally honest.
It’s beyond a rant. It’s brutally truthful. But not even a rant.
It’s more direct than that.
It’s NOT for the lazy or people who don’t wanna know the real truth about the real game. And how it’s played and how you really make money in thins business.
I’m gonna make this edition shorter but meaty.
The article today is simple:
"Get the Lead Out! Time For Action!"
by Marlon Sanders
How do you learn this game of selling stuff online and making money? That’s really what you wanna know, isn’t it?
Here are my tips:
1. Learn the freakin’ roots of the business
That means some basics. Buy some Jay Abraham off of ebay or wherever. Learn about USP, moving parade. All Jay’s schtick is great stuff and changed my life.
John Caples’ 3 books are all 100% essential and cheap off of Amazon. Claude Hopkins is required. Frankly, Jay like it a lot more than me. But you can read it in a night, so why not?
I would put Amazing Formula in the category of the roots of this business. It was the first ebook on Internet marketing that really sold huge. And it’s a framework that still is great.
2. Do your homework
Don’t expect to buy 1 stupid product and become a pro.
Guys and gals, this isn’t about being a HACK and making money.
I think I’m inventing a new word. And that word is a "AMA" or "A Marketing Artist". The only reason I say that is I love the connotation. You become an ARTIST….It’s an art and a science. )h, it’s probably not a good name. I’ll think of a better one.
But artist…that’s what it is. It’s science. Yeah. But there’s a certain ART to it. A certain skill. A certain understanding.
I paid my dues. Yeah, I haven’t worked a lot in 7 years.
But my friend, I paid my dues for many years. All successes do. It’s no different than any other field, business or game.
Those who succeed usually work harder and know more.
Although a HTM certainly helps the most.
If you don’t know HTM, do your homework.
3. Be willing to strike out a lot in the beginning
Good gosh. My first 3 or 4 or 5 products sucked and didn’t sell. That’s paying your dues.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know. The pitch is, "you don’t need to pay any dues. I’ll just give you what you need to know on a silver platter."
Then, 3 years later, you’re on their newsletter, coaching club, conference calls, etc.
They told you what you wanted to hear and gave you what you needed.
You wanna be somebody? You wanna make your products sell online? You wanna have a killer business?
Yeah, sorry. But you gotta pay your dues in terms of learning, experimenting, failing and work. Sometimes even long hours.
4. Don’t get stuck in the paralysis of analysis.
You probably already know enough to do something. Gosh, yesterday I layed out my whole action system on 1 conference call.
I do that in "Gimme My Money Now" and my dashboard. Have a propensity to take action.
You learn by DOING!
And when things don’t work, it sucks. It hurts. It’s pain.
That’s the game.
5. Be in the game to learn, not to get instant sales and results.
Instant sounds great. It motivates. And you know what? If you even get 100 people or even TEN people on a list and send an offer, you CAN get instant results. A sale or a few sales.
One of my friends got his first sale after he got 10 opt ins from a Google pay-per-click ad.
I’ve read results by people doing pretty well off very small lists.
So get in the game to get results. Work to get results. But don’t get discouraged if you don’t make that 100 G’s your first year like everybody implies you will.
Heck, some people imply you’ll make a million your first year (I’m NOT referring to Mike’s product, by the freakin’
way….Mike is my dog and a great marketer).
You know what I’m sayin’? There are results you can get fast. But you build strength, ability and muscle.
Most people?
They learn NOTHING about the classics. No John Caples.
No Jay Abraham. No history of the business.
They think they’ll make 100 g’s their first year — or more.
They don’t wanna buy more than 1 newsletter, private site or coaching program.
Frankly, they just don’t get it. Do you? I hope so.
Otherwise, I’m wasting my time on this Saturday afternoon when I could be at the coffee shop and out shopping.
Which is where I’m headed now.
6. Get your game on. Learn the skills. Don’t spend forever just "reading." You need to LEARN HOW to do stuff.
I say learn Photoshop Elements, learn how to write a sales letter, learn how to write a decent freakin’ offer.
Learn the BASICS of this business. I take my own paid company time to teach my own employees the basics.
I would expect nothing less of you.
You need to learn some skills. A little Dreamweaver or other html program ain’t gonna hurt you. Seriously.
Oh, learning to create and compile a PDF for gosh sakes.
You know, these are skills I think you need.
I’m skill based. Others will tell you to outsource everything.
And for the stupid record, I believe I had the first TWO products on outsourcing in this business about 2-3 full YEARS before anyone else.
My "clone Lisa" program at operateyourbiz.com. And also my Digital Product Creation System which was in depth documentation on how we outsourced.
But still, ladies and gentleman, learn to do a 12 product survey.
Learn to post on Elance and Rentacoder. Learn to write a decent ezine article, report, and email.
Learn to write sales letters.
7. You learn by doing
I’ve enumerated things to learn. Now go DO!
A lot of people bought Affiliate Dashboard and a lot of people didn’t. My dashboards are all ACTION products. If you want to set up your own affiliate program, and if you have PLR products or your own products, you should, I can’t imagine NOT buying it.

8. Get products DONE.
Half done, gonna be done, almost done, done some day, done but not proofread, gonna be done tomorrow.
All equal not done.
You can’t sell not done. You can’t bank money off of almost done.
"Done is beautiful" — Patrick Anderson
The hardest thing people have to do is to overcome the need for perfection and get it done. Well, most people. You also don’t wanna put out something shabby. Some people like OVERDO it!
That’s probably NOT you though. Most people just prepare and prepare and prepare.
And never DO IT!
The product never gets done. That is why they don’t make money.
That is why they sell outdated, low quality, no demand reprints rights crap.
Just JUNK.
Why? Because they can’t get it done.
How is that for a SECRET?
The secret is, get it DONE.
If you haven’t noticed, I’m about the ONLY online marketer telling you this stuff straight up. It doesn’t HELP sales. It hurts them.
Why? People want EZ done for you, in a box.
I’ve already made my name and been validated. So I can have the balls to tell you.
Stop over analyzing the crap and get it DONE. Do it. Get it finished.
Get it out. Promote it. Pimp it. Sell it.
9. Get products promoted
You get products DONE then you get promotion DONE. You promote like crazy. Start with whatever you KNOW how to do. Know how to write articles? Do it.
Know some ppc game? Do it!
Know some affiliate promotion game? Do it! Hint: use http://clicks.aweber.com/y/ct/?l=BssWq&m=Jjjs2CWN1Dr&b=y8MjfWHAC2hN9Y20BaDEEg
Need to get some promo game? Buy http://clicks.aweber.com/y/ct/?l=BssWq&m=Jjjs2CWN1Dr&b=oI0SIpz6ty6KUNyJGsF5Yw
Got ebooks on your hard drive with some promotion systems, tools, methods?
Go them. Get them done. Track results.
Some work. Most don’t. That’s LIFE! That’s business. Most of it don’t work. Some does. The does pays many times over for the don’t s.
Get the promotion DONE!
You got it?
Stop analyzing.
Stop doubting yourself.
Stop doubting your product.
Stop finding reasons it isn’t good enough.
Stop saying it won’t work.
Stop finding reasons you can’t do it.
Get it DONE!
No more excuses.
Get the lead out.
Light a fire under your tail end.
No GO! Stop reading. DO something.
Sheez.
Make some money. Sell something to someone for Pete’s sake….
before I hunt you down, get on your stupid computer and do it my freakin’ self.
GO! BYE! Do it.
Best wishes,
Marlon Sanders
P.S. If you know someone stuck in the paralysis of analysis, email this to them. Post it on your blog.
Tell someone somewhere.
Thanks for sharing.

Now go take some action!
